We use SMS text messages to send you an six digit access code so that you can log into your NHS account.
If you're in an area with poor or no mobile coverage you might not receive the code or might only get it after it has expired.
If your mobile network and smartphone support these features, try turning on:
- WiFi calling - so that your phone can get text messages over your WiFi network without the need for mobile signal
- Biometric login options like fingerprint unlock, Touch ID or Face ID if your device supports these features - when you're in an area with mobile signal, log in to the app, go to More, then select Fingerprint, Touch ID, Face ID.
When you use biometric login, you do not need to enter a security code, so you can log in to the NHS App without the need for mobile signal.
Alternatively, you can add a landline number to your account so you can receive the access code to your landline phone rather than your mobile.
