Depending on what you have set up, your NHS account can only be accessed by either:
- Entering your email address, password and the security code sent to your mobile phone or landline telephone number.
- Entering your email address and password if you have enabled 'Remember my device'.
- Using a passkey instead of password and security code.
- Using biometric login such as fingerprint or facial recognition.
If you have lost access to your phone numbers and you cannot log in another way, you can recover access to your account
If you can still access your account, but you are concerned about your account security, you can change your details in Login and security settings
How to change your password:
1. Log in to your NHS account.
2. Select Login and security settings.
3. Select Email and password.
4. Select Change for password.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to change your password.
How to change the email address you use to log in:
1. Log in to your NHS account.
2. Select Login and security settings.
3. Select Email and password.
4. Select Change for email.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to to change your email address.
How to change your the mobile phone number you use to receive security codes:
1. Log in to your NHS account.
2. Select Login and security settings.
3. Select Email and password.
4. Select Change for mobile phone number.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm your new mobile phone number.
How to change your landline number you use to receive security codes:
1. Log in to your NHS account.
2. Select Login and security settings.
3. Select Two-step verification.
4. Select Change for landline number.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to confirm your new landline number.
How to remove a passkey from your account:
1. Log in to your NHS account.
2. Select Login and security settings.
3. Select Passkeys.
4. Select Remove for the passkey that you want to remove.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove the passkey.
To use a passkey, your device will ask for your fingerprint, face, passcode or pattern to unlock
your device. Without doing this, nobody else can use your passkey and it will remain secure on
the device.
