If you have verified your identity and wish to change the telephone number associated with your account but have no access to it this can be done via the below steps. Please note that when attempting to change your phone number, you will need access to your new number. Whilst this process only takes a few minutes to complete, for security purposes the change will take 24 hours to update on your account.
During this 24 hour time period, you will only be able to access your account using your old mobile phone number if you still have access to this. If you have Fingerprint ID or Face ID enabled to log into the app, please disable them so that you can see the ‘Change your phone number’ option described above (to disable them, log into the NHS App, select More in the top right corner, then go to 'Login and password options' and deselect the relevant options).
To begin, navigate to the below link:
https://www.nhsapp.service.nhs.uk/login
1. If you can recall the number that you are looking to change from select 'Continue with NHS Login', enter your email address and password and, when prompted, select 'Do not have access to your mobile phone?'.
On the following screen select 'Change your phone number securely'. You will be prompted to enter your old phone number, your NHS number, and the new phone number.
Once submitted a security code will be sent via text message to the number specified which, once submitted, completes the process. You will then see a confirmation screen that the change will take 24 hours to take effect.
2. If you don't know the current phone number on your account select 'Continue with NHS Login', enter your email address and password and, when prompted, select 'Do not have access to your mobile phone?'.
On the following screen select 'Change your phone number securely' followed by 'Email you a security code to verify your account'. A security code will be sent to the email address associated with your NHS account. Submit this code and you will be prompted to enter your NHS number and the phone number that you wish to use.
A security code will be sent to the number specified via text message which, once submitted, completes the process. You will then see a confirmation screen that the change will take 24 hours to take effect.
If you do not know your NHS number, you can find it on any previous NHS documentation you have received (e.g. appointment letters, test results, prescription slips) or by visiting:
